Windows 10: Advice on migrating from 2016 Essentials to new hardware running 2022 Standard

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been answered before but I've been tasked with migrating a server running 2016 Essentials that is also acting as a domain controller to new hardware that is running 2022 Standard. I was thinking for simplicity sake it would be better to change the new hardware down to 2016 Essentials and then migrate over, then upgrade from 2016 Essentials to 2022 standard. Basically "Across, then up" as opposed to "Across and up." That way I could address any issues that arise from a hardware migration without any added software issues. Upgrade Windows Server Essentials 2016 to 2022

I haven't done this in a while. I have a client who is moving from Windows Server 2016 Essentials to the newest version Windows Server 2022 Essentials. What steps should I follow in performing this migration? Thanks.

 

Windows Server 2016 Essentials upgrade to Windows Server 2016 Standard

I had an OEM version of Windows Server 2016 Essentials installed.

I wanted to use Remote Desktop for 3 users, which essentials cant do.

I have installed an evaualtion of Windows Server 2016 Standard, and have got 3 users remote connecting to the server to run an accounting application.

Thats fine, i have purchased 3 cals for Windows Remote Desktop Services.

My question.

Can i upgrade from 2016 Essentials (which i bought) to Windows Server 2016 Standard, or do i have to buy a new Server 2016 license?

Microsoft DPM Server 1801 migrate to new hardware Server and upgrade to DPM 2019

Dear Friends,

I am working on task to migrate DPM Server 1801 to new Server machine and upgrade to DPM 2019.

My Current Server configuration running DPM 1801

Windows Server 2016 Standard

SQL Server 2016 Standard

Microsoft DPM 1801

Two SAN Volumes for Backup repository (contained already running backups of last 5 years)

My requirement is to upgrade DPM 1801 to 2019 Server on same server in first phase and in second phase migrate upgraded DPM Server 2019 to New Server Hardware along with all existing backups and SAN backup volumes containing backups. We have also a tape library as well which needs to be migrate to new Server hardware as well.

Please help and guide straight forward method to achieve this task.
