Windows 10: Adware for Windows 10S?

I probably made a mistake in buying this laptop a year ago, but can't afford to just chuck it in the bin. It has recently started giving me a "pop-up" message that I have viruses. I clicked on it and it implied that my McAfee virus-checker sub had expired. I do have McAfee on other equipment but was led to believe a that I did not need it as the security on 10S is magnificent and b that I can't use it anyway as it isn't available in the Microsoft Apps Store.I phoned the large high-street company from whom I bought the laptop but the "helper" did not seem to appreciate the restrictions of W

If it is not listed in the Control Panel, or it can't be removed there, move on to step 2. You might be able to skip the step with HitmanPro. (30 day free trial if needed)

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
