Windows 10: Aero for Windows 10 very cool

Discus and support Aero for Windows 10 very cool in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; And yes there are touch screen monitors for desktops I don't know anyone that would like to be that close to a large screen though possibly they could... Usually POS systems. Like when I buy my quotidian jelly doughnut in Publix. I haven't noticed any of the employees using a stick. Maybe tomorrow I'll suggest a cruller. *Wink

I absolutely do not understand why POS systems should run the same OS as my desktop. This approach that one OS should be used on all possible machines, phones, tablets, etc. seems weird to me.

I for one do want Aero. I will not move over to 10 if Aero will not be possible without strange hacks to the system. I can accept a third-party theme, but not hacks to the system downloaded from a forum, no offense. Some themes require serious mods or they are not accepted by Windows. I don't want to do that.

In any case, 7 has Aero and I have not seen anything in 10 that adds to my workflow on 7. Hence, no need to switch, at least as long as 7 is supported.

There you go guys, pretty up your computers to your hearts content. That's what computing is all about, some people just want a computer to do work, some for gaming, some for prettying up, it shouldn't all be in the OS. The OS should be nice and it should be fast, if you want to turn it into a fantasy world like I did years ago, get some third party stuff.

  5. The problem with third party themes... is Microsoft's constant security changes which will no doubt kill any third party theme with an additional update,

Windows glass doesn't really qualify as something outlandish it should be a basic built in theme option to take away the kindergarten look of 8.1 and 10.

Glass was almost certainly removed because it sucks battery life... Microsoft doesn't want it to be an option because people will enable it, then complain that their battery life is poor. The focus of Windows since Windows 8 has been to improve the Mobile story, so they have done a lot of things around that.. making Windows take far fewer resources, increasing battery life, etc...

You can argue that you should have the choice, but in the end, Microsoft pays the bills for support costs... they can choose to design the OS in ways that reduce their support costs.

  7. And that statement sums up win-8.1 unpopularity
Revolving around a Surface/ cell phone and not real machines is just narrow minded and will amount to not much more than 8.1 has produced zero or stagnant net gain and computer sells.

Overpriced Surfaces also have been going no where too narrow of a market

It's not just Surface. It's all mobiles.. Including Laptops, Ultrabooks, 2-in-1's, and yes, tablets (not just surfaces).

Microsoft is not the only company that sells these, you know.

That is the ugliest, most difficult to read web site I've ever had the displeasure of looking at, as is the desktop shown.

I;m an Aero Glass lover but ... yuck!

Your reaction is exactly why Microsoft shouldn't add this rubbish into the system, everyone has different tastes. If you want to pimp up your machine look around the net and see what takes your fancy and get some 3rd party mods etc. I'd much rather start off with a light and nimble OS, then if I want to turn it into Starwars, I can do so with add ons.

"Apple has started rolling out a new iTunes Store design for OS X Yosemite testers that have iTunes 12 installed. The revamped storefront takes several design elements from the iTunes Store and App Store on iOS, adopting a cleaner, flatter look that does away with a lot of shadowing and texture that was previously seen in the design. The revamped look fits in with the design of iTunes 12, which takes on the flatter, more iOS-like look seen across OS X Yosemite"

This is the way the world's going at the moment, not shadows and Aero and stuff, just nice and clean.

  11. The trouble in a nutshell is that the shell is hard wired into the system. On Linux with X-Windows there are many window managers to choose from. Light fast and flat, others with eye candy and plenty between. For that matter there are specialized distros for particular uses. POS, routers and firewalls, software development etc..

With one size fits all it can end up fitting like OJ's gloves. *Smile

It could end up like that or it could just work, Microsofties seem to think it will, and I hope it does, because I'm sick of going between OSX, IOS, ANDROID, LINUX and WINDOWS.

I never got the look I was looking for in Win 8. I quickly uninstalled it. I do miss that feature. I don't know why the MS developers like a flat look, it is so boring. *Sad

And that's why Linux desktop managers are always so difficult, disjointed and bolted together as after thoughts. That kind of flexibility comes at the price of lack of integration.

  15. Take a look at Command Prompt -> properties (right click the title bar)

What's that experimental tab with % transparency option?

    Oh!! a Glass Cmd ?

It's not in Win8, I tried and the tab was not present - freaked me out a little until I realized I was on 8 not 10.

  10. Very little Aero Glass?

    in Windows 10 Support
Very little Aero Glass?: While it seems that while Aero Glass is back as promised, it hardly appears anywhere compared to Vista/7. None of the "Modern UI" style apps in Windows 10 have any hint of it, which I kind of expected, but it's also been taken out of title bars and window borders for...
