I never liked 3rd party explorer desktop skinners (Stardock WindowsBlinds comes to mind). The theme looks good for a while but then readability and usability always seem to suffer, usually because the changing display size in Display settings did not affect the windows close icon, shrinking it into oblivion. Even Aero could be a pain to read the title bar of the window sometimes. Still, with a $600 graphics card pulling up to 250 watts, a LITTLE bling would be appreciated, heh.

Yep, WindowsBlinds still works on Win10 but still does not recognize the change in size of the display settings.

I know what you mean, I've been wanting more colours etc, since 2 colour monitors. I've used Stardock and Windowsblinds etc, loved them at the time but now I also appreciate the clean modern look. I suppose if Microsoft leaves in the ability to turn it on, it would satisfy more people which is good for them. I can also see their dilemma of trying to be everything to everyone.

I really, really would like to see them attain their goal of one OS across a multitude of devices, and me personally am willing to sacrifice a little bling while they get it all together. I can also understand people with big powerful machines wanting everything, that was me up until I saw Windows 8 and learned of their plan. I love nothing better than setting up a new computer or tablet and having most of my settings and documents ready to go once I type in my password.

Unfortunately, some tablets are not very powerful so they can't manage a lot of bling nor can phones.

  3. Allot of things can happen to a Microsoft email account,
It can be suspended for numerous reasons,
It can be hacked and then suspended for unusual activity,
You can be tagged as a spammer and suspended.....
Tying a Microsoft account to a computer login is a can of worms waiting to happen *Wink

You're confusing the Microsoft account with a Hotmail/outlook account. They may seem like they're the same, but they're not. They are actually separate things, and your Hotmail account may be suspended or even deleted but your Microsoft account will still be there.

    +1 for Aero *Smile

I hate the 90 degree corners and the paper thin borders.

Not sure why, but Chrome looks good.

You can actually delete your Hotmail/outlook account and keep your Microsoft account. Additionally, you can create a Microsoft account for any email address, not just a Hotmail/outlook email. So you don't have to tie it to Hotmail/outlook either.

  9. Yea well your splitting hairs brother,
outlook.com/ Hotmail.com/ live.com are all Microsoft accounts and can be used for win-10,
These are also the most common Microsoft accounts,
I can't remember how or why people make the account your referring to,
    Cheers.

I'm not splitting hairs. The Microsoft Account and your Hotmail account are two different accounts. However, your Hotmail account is accessed via your Microsoft account.

So, when you create a Hotmail account, it actually creates a Microsoft account, then creates a Hotmail account and links the two.

The point being, if your Hotmail account is, for whatever reason, disabled, compromised, whatever... it is not related to your Microsoft account, nor would it affect your ability to log in to your PC (though you wouldn't be able to get your Hotmail email).

I used my local E-mail address. No G-mail/Yahoo/Hotmail/Outlook needed.

  12. Microsoft Account is a rebranding of Microsoft Live. It is a consolidated ID that can be used across services.

You can create a Microsoft Account using any eMail address (Yahoo, Gmail, Verizon, Comcast, ...)
    • About Microsoft Account
    • Microsoft Account sign-up

    • Microsoft Account sign-in

It's a concept similar to OpenID, but is specific to MS services / devices.

Good point Slarty. I was just playing with Chrome and Google does about the same thing. I have a Google account and that ties in with Drive, G Mail, Chrome, YouTube, Google Earth, Maps etc. They are all separate accounts that tie together with Google. MS does the same with Windows Live err... Microsoft Account. Heck, MS even ties in my XBox consoles into the account. They are starting to merge into one large Google or MS account.
The nice thing was when I had to rebuild my Android phone after upgrading to Kit-Kat, all my contacts were on the Google account so nothing was lost but a few apps and old text messages.

  14. I've never seen Aero cause any more or less resource usage than when it is turned off in Win7. In fact its almost the same.

Going from Aero to the flat ugliness of 8/10 is jarring, like going from a 3D world to one dimension.

Very little Aero Glass?: While it seems that while Aero Glass is back as promised, it hardly appears anywhere compared to Vista/7. None of the "Modern UI" style apps in Windows 10 have any hint of it, which I kind of expected, but it's also been taken out of title bars and window borders for...
