Windows 10: After a forced update my computer has extreme lag, what can I do?

My laptop updated something while I was restarting my laptop, and because of that the size of my lay out was somehow changed, but especially my performance is extremely decreased. Even tiny games are completely unplayable now. About 2 hours ago I could run games such as GTA 5 and Payday 2 just fine, but now even Roblox has a framerate under 5 FPS, despite my laptop being perfectly capable.I did not want this update and I especially didn't want the results, now my laptop is limited to playing youtube videos. What can I do to change this? I'm sure there must've been a mistake or something. I hav

• What browser are you using when you experience a lag?
• Does the lag occur in a particular game?

In the meantime, we suggest you run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. Here are the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• On the left pane, click on View All.
• Click on System Maintenance to run the troubleshooter.

To check which updates were installed recently follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to settings and click on “update and security”.
• Under “windows update” click on “advanced setting”.
• Then click on “view update history” and check which update was installed recently.

After the Windows update if the computer as not restarted then you might face issues, so I suggest you to restart the computer and try to play the game and check if the issue persists or not.

Mouse & Keyboard Lagging After Update

I have exactly the same problem you describe, and, after looking for solutions for days, including downloading drivers, I will be forced to revert to Windows 8.

I have a top-end Core i7 laptop. I initially noticed extreme lagging with all three mice--a USB mouse, my track pad, and my Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav pointer.

After considerable testing, however, I noticed, like scr0sis, that there was an overall lag in all programs, even just while typing in Word. So I realised it wasn't just mouse specific like some other posts suggest; it is just more obvious when the mouse
lags. I have also updated intel video drivers etc.

One, final, interesting point is that the lagging seems worst when the new browser, Microsoft Edge, is in use or open.
