Windows 10: After a power outage or other PC shutdown Windows 11 says my login pin doesn't exist or...

Windows 10 and then 11 both did this: after a power outage or even hard reset Windows says "Something has happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."It has happened several times now. I use the authenticator and am able to reset my pin.HOWEVER it shouldn't be this way. Power outages shouldn't trash my login pin.I read a couple how-tos about fixing this and they were walls of text with tons of actions I had to perform. win hello not working after power outage other login options hidden, rdp working

My win 11 device is setup to login with windows hello pin code. After a power outage, I got a message that says pin code login is not allowed (unless I leave the device on for two hours and to use other options), the problem is it is not allowing me to select other options, the usual icon to do that is hidden. RDP login with username and password works.



Things tried:

- safe mode (has same issue)

- login with rdp works fully but doesn't solve the issue on device

- sfc /scannow no effect

- dism image repair no effect

- i can't disable win hello or pin in settings since those options are hidden on rdp login

- renaming ngc folder, replaced the pin code entry screen with a login link that does nothing when clicked, so i renamed it back

- forgot pin option does nothing



I know waiting two hours will work because other people with the issue reported the same but this is an awful bug that leaves my device inaccessible and it has been there for at least 1 year based on other reports.



once the two hours elapsed, I was basically wondering if there is a way to disable this ludicrous power outage detection option. Oh gee the user had a power outage let's inconvenience them further by stopping them from logging in for two more hours. That will be fun, I don't see how power outage justifies a lockout. Hopefully there is a registry code to disable the lockout, and better yet a fix to allow other login options to remain available.



The bug is that when windows hello is disabled after a power outage the other sign in options should become available regardless of the (only allow login with Microsoft account to this device via windows hello for security reasons) setting.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Power Outage

Feellng is why most people beleive myths. The power supply can only do what the power controller tells it to do. Most do not even know that a controller exists - let alone know what it does. But numbers from the meter says which (of numerous) power 'system' components has failed.

Another perfect example of myths (due to insufficient knowledge) is that a power outage can cause a supply or motherboard damage. If true, then shutdown also causes damage. Most all parts of a computer never know that power is being removed until voltages slowly drop to zero. A power outage or shutdown look exactly same to those electronic parts. If a power outage causes hardware damage, then a shutdown also causes damage. Reality unknown to a majority who only 'feel'.

Your options are a simple two. Either keep replacing good parts until something works. Or take numbers with a meter to know what is defective before even disconnecting one wire.
