Only "pin to start" (as a tile) and not "pin to start menu"?

It does not work like this. You have to shift + right click the corresponding exe file or a shortcut in Windows Explorer to get the "pin to start lis" option. But be aware that even though you can choose to pin a certain program to the start list there is no guarantee that it actually works. On my system it does not work for most programs, i've only been able to add a handful of them. The only thing that does work ist "pin to start" which adds them to thw right side of the sart menu as a tile.

Seriously,I hope this is a bug. Because a start menu that does not let you add your own programs is worthless. If I'm forced to use tiles I will be better off using the start screen.

Only "pin to start" (as a tile) and not "pin to start menu"?

I can't pin any icons to the start list, I can only pin them as resizable tiles to the right side. Shift + right click does not give me the option "pin to start list" within the start menu. See snip below, that's shift+right click on Notepad, sorry for the colors. I do get the option when I shift-right-click an icon in Windows Explorer, but they still don't show in the left list. I only have

    Places
    File Explorer
    Documents
    Settings

And at the bottom I have
    Recently added:

If I have to make registry tweaks to make the non continuum start menu go away I might as well install Classic Shell.

After a recent update, whenever I am opening start menu, this "Pinned Tiles" tab is being...

Blank start menu under pinned tiles.

I just recently ran into this myself. My Start Menu defaults to the "Pinned tiles" tab no matter what I do, and it's empty. Looks like a pretty useless change, especially without an easy way to change the default tab.
