I cannot figure out how to go back to the "less zoomed in" slideshow I so very much enjoy. I've tried available Personalization options Fill, Fit, etc. and nothing returns them to the way they looked before. It's as if Fit the best option and what I had it set to prior to the update, is now zoomed in. I only see portions of the beautiful images I have curated for my desktop background.I have an extended monitor + laptop, Win 11 version 10.0.22621I've also searched in the folder where the desktop images are stored to see if there is a resolution there - no luck. This is not a critical iss

  3. Windows 11: Desktop background keeps resetting from slideshow to a picture.

    Hi Nicole,

Here are the steps I took per your suggestion.

    1. Make Sure the Theme Isn't Changing Your Wallpaper
      • I created a custom Theme with Background set to Slideshow and Lock Screen to Spotlight.
      • Locked screen and logged back in all good.
      • Rebooted and both reset to Picture.
      • I reset back to Slideshow and Spotlight accordingly.
    2. Turn Off Slideshow in Personalization Settings
      • I set Background to a color and Lock Screen to Picture
      • Restarted system.
      • Settings remained.
      • Reset Background to Slideshow and Screen to Spotlight.
      • Restarted system.
      • Settings remained for the moment.
      • Restarted one more time and Background reverted to Picture & Screen remained at Spotlight.
      • Reset Background to Slideshow.
      • Restarted again.
      • Settings remained for the moment.
      • Restarted again just to validate and settings remained for the moment.
    3. Disable Windows Sync Settings
      • I cannot do this since the factory reset, my account cannot use my Microsoft account only the local. As such, Settings > Accounts > Windows backup > the option to Remember Preferences is grayed out; only available if using Microsoft account.
    4. Use a Local Account
      • I can only use Local Account
    5. Lock the Background Settings
      • This is not an option as, I’m the only user and with Home edition I don’t have Group Policy option.
Status: While running through steps 3-6 my Background reverted to Picture on its own, without me locking screen or restarting system. Mystery remains as to what’s causing this change on its own. I think Microsoft needs to get involved to evaluate this bug. I know I’m not the only one reporting this issue as I have found several articles over the past couple of years on this topic and don’t know why MSFT hasn’t gotten involved yet.

After a recent Windows update installed, the images in my "slideshow" Background are...

(4K DP, 1440p DP, 1200p DVI-D) Triple monitor setup; 2 monitors have the same background when background is set to slideshow shuffle

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    1. May I know how are you trying to setup the slideshow?
    2. Are you taking the images from a specific folder?
    3. How many images you have on a folder?
    4. Are you aware of any recent changes after which you are facing this issue?
    5. May I know the make and the model number of your system?

Below are few of the troubleshooting steps you can try to further eliminate the root cause of the issue.

    Method 1:

    1. Navigate to Settings > Personalization > Background.
    2. Change the background type to Slideshow and turn on Shuffling.
    3. Make sure there are more than 10 images on the slideshow folder.

    Method 2:

    1. If you have installed any desktop customization software, please uninstall the software and check.
    2. I suggest you to
create a new user account and
check if you still face the issue on that account.

If you still face the issue, reply to this post with more information, so that we can proceed with further troubleshooting.

    Hope it helps,
