Windows 10: After a Windows update, my system broke and now I can't play Minecraft. Why?

Hello, After the most recent Windows update 29.05.2025, I received the following activation error:Error code: 0x80004005 – Eroded Badlands. According to the message, “a file required for Windows activation WPA is either corrupted or missing.” The result? I can no longer launch Minecraft, which, ironically, is also a Microsoft product. My computer was working perfectly before the update. I didn’t modify any settings, change hardware, or touch the BIOS. I simply installed your official system update. Is it really possible that an update from Microsoft can break its own activation mechanism and

Homegroup For Minecraft Servers Or What?

It looks as if the existing minecraft server will use the new system without modification - It needs to be able to access the computers on the network in a two way link, which is the standard for Workgroup and Homegroup

It's not something I have any direct experience with but a quick read suggests to me that you will not need to do Much if any reconfiguration of the existing server

Please try these steps:

Reset the Microsoft Store Cache

1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
   
2. Type wsreset and hit Enter to reset the Microsoft Store cache.
   

Reset the Minecraft App

1. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
   
2. Find the Minecraft Launcher app, click the three dots and select Advanced Options.
   
3. Click the Reset button to reset the Minecraft app.
   

Reinstall Minecraft from Microsoft Store

1. Uninstall any existing Minecraft installations from your PC.
   
2. Open the Microsoft Store and search for "Minecraft Launcher".
   
3. Install the latest version of the Minecraft Launcher from the store.
