I have purchased a new computer, and I wanted to use my old hard drive inside it to add more storage.

I did not remove any sort of windows program files from it due to having too much data to sort through.

When i did this, Windows Store Apps would not launch, stating, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

When I looked up a fix, it stated it was with permissions to the \Program Files\WindowsApps folder in Program Files.

I had been rash and decided to run takeown on the folder, which in turn broke the Windows Store app irreparably, leading me to format the PC from a Windows 10 USB installation. I had taken out the hard drive when i did this install, and everything seemed ok. When I placed the old hard drive back in, the same error message would appear for specific apps and the Windows Store would give the error code 0x80070005 when installing new apps. At this point I do not know what permissions or files on the old hard drive are causing these issues.

    :)

  2. Permission issue, shared drive Windows 10.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We can understand your concern. However, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

    1. May I know the exact error message?
    2. Have you shared all hard drives or any particular folder within the particular hard drive?

Since you have mentioned that you are getting error related to permission issue, please refer to the troubleshooting steps provided by “Azee N” dated June 2nd 2010 on
Providing permission to drive and try
    providing permission to the drive.

If the issue still persists, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to re-map the drive.

    1. Disconnect the drive by right click on the drive and select disconnect (if the drive is mapped).
    2. Then re-map the drive by referring to Map a network drive
and check if it resolves the issue.

    Regards,

    Windows 10 permissions...

Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?
