Windows 10: After connect external hdd Bitlocker ask key

Hello. I have a laptop HP Probook with installed 2 OS on it: Windows 10 Pro and Ubuntu 20.04. All partition was encrypted by default. Selecting OS managed by GRUB, and there was no problem for today:I turned on my laptop and decided to run Windows, but it asked me for a BitLocker key. Unfortunately, I do not have a recovery key, but I think that is the reason for another issue. Two days ago, I loaded Windows successfully and worked with an external HDD, as I remember, I safely ejected it and turned the laptop off. Unfortunately, today Windows asks for a recovery key.What I tried to do:Recover

Avoid Bitlocker from asking for Recovery Key on boot because of external hard

Hi everyone,

my first question over here, I've used the search but haven't found anything. If anyone could be so kind and tell me: is there any way, that Bitlocker won't ask for a Recovery Key each time the computer boots, because you had an external (eSATA) HDD connected?

My set-up is as follows, I've Windows 10 Pro, three internal HDDs/SSDs and one external 1TB eSATA HDD. If the external harddrive isn't on or off, depending on how it was left the last time Windows was shut down, it asks for the recovery key...

Corrupt HDD + BitLocker + Data Recovery

Hey guys,

I have a BarraCuda 500GB 2.5 HDD. The HDD is failing. I checked with HD Tune Pro and it only gets about 2% error scan before it just fails and won't scan anymore. Lots of damaged blocks. The HDD is encrypted with BitLocker. I have the 48 number key. The laptop where the HDD was installed in wouldn't boot. So I installed the HDD into another computer using an external enclosure using Windows 10. The HDD is recognized as a BitLocked drive and asks for the key. I insert the key and it is accepted. But from there Windows fails to load it and it just hangs and eventually says the drive needs to be formatted. I am trying to get any data off this drive. I have some questions.

1. How do I permanently remove BitLock from the drive once I unlock it? Or should I permanently remove BitLocker to have a higher chance of recovering data?
2. How does recovering data work on a BitLocked drive?
3. Is there a specific tool I should be using to recover data on a BitLocked drive?
4. When should I attempt to repair the drive? Before or after I unlock Bit?

If anyone has a step by step guide I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
