Windows 10: after custom windows reinstall, most of my user files are gone in windows.old

Discus and support after custom windows reinstall, most of my user files are gone in windows.old in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; how can I recover the missing/deleted/rogue ALL the files that were in my old user folder before the windows custom reinstall. it claimed i wouldn't...     after custom windows reinstall, most of my user files are gone in windows.old


    how can I recover the missing/deleted/rogue ALL the files that were in my old user folder before the windows custom reinstall. it claimed i wouldn't lose files, comments also claim windows.old has integrity for this, but definitely not my experience! as we know, technically my files should not already be overwritten, or may not be, if I can grab them fast...even though may be 'deleted' after the reinstall. windows.old==>users==>myname files definitely did NOT SAVE most of my stuff and that is catastrophic. I can't believe I believed what the tech told me to do.....please help me!!


    No other backup...I was black-screened after windows commandeered my laptop and forced an update that broke whatever. i was unable to get in and finally created a usb boot disk and did the custom install. I could only get safe mode and task manager via ctrl.alt.dlet before the reinstall.....when my old data files were still intact. REGRETS!!!

    Why did the startup window get cleared?

    I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Windows 8x reinstall

    From my understanding in order to get to the "Custom" install I first have to select "Install" and be able to enter the windows code. Correct? Problem is when I hit install I am never able to enter a OEM code to get to "Custom" because I get the missing driver error that I spoke of originally.
