Windows 10: After Friday update everything went crazy

So Friday night I had some updates to install and I usually install them overnight when I go to sleep. And so I selected the shutdown and update feature. Fast forward to Saturday night when I had time to do things on my machine.. it wasn't working.. AKA I had that "black screen of death issue" in which I can log on but my screen is dark and only my cursor is visible. Of course I started panicking a bit.. I tried rollback to a data from 13 August 2020 and nothing worked.. then I tried one from 7 August which was the system created one..the one from 13th was called " Installation" but the 7 August one gives me an error to check my disk with chkdsk /r I did that still not working. The system restore only made things worse as I could not even get to logon page I would get the message bad config.. I tried also when I saw that my error was black screen of death to go with cmd to regeedit and change the value of a sheel to explorer.exe as most websites tell you to do that. Nothing. And It gives me an error when I try to clean my windows with a downloaded version from internet aka I can't download it I must repair it with a usb stick . Is this my last option ? Also I don't want to lose my files so would it be ok if I keep my files and only repair windows ? Thank you ! . I do own a windows 10 License in case people are asking me if I do or don't. Sorry if this doesn't look good in web.. I'm writing it from my mobile phone :/

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Intel E5200 Gets Updated, R0 Stepping Coming Up

Intel's Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor is getting on course for a specifications update. The chip will feature in a new, improved Wolfdale-2M core, spec'd out as the R0 stepping, from its current M0 stepping. The new stepping is intended to add new instructions, power-management features, and bring about changes in the chip-package. A short list of known changes is as follows:

• CPUID changed from 10677 to 1067A
• Power State Indicator (PSI) support with Intel 4 series chipsets
• New instructions - XSAVE and XRSTOR
• New S-spec and MM numbers
• New halide-free chip package

Due to the changed CPUID, users may require BIOS updates to detect the CPU. According to the company, E5200 R0 should be out by April 13.
