Windows 10: After installing windows 10, desktop has no icons and flashes

I'm unable to do anything. During the download, everything seemed fine. It started to install apps. It then said "This is taking longer then usual, it should finish soon". I stepped out for about 10 minutes, came back and desktop was flashing with no icons. I'm unable to do anything.

after windows 10 installed, our laptop continues to flash the desktop screen on and off - sometimes with the desktop icons showing and other times a blank desktop. we have turned the laptop off twice to no avail - it is still flashing. any suggestions?

 

Win 10 comes to desktop and only flashes no icons etc

Installed Win 10 over Win 7 Home premium. Install went thru, but when I logged onto my machine and Win 10 tried to get to my desktop all I get is the background, no icons, and the screen flashes on and off almost like a strobe light.

Nothing I do will stop it on make it continue. it is like Win 10 is stuck in a loop once it gets to the desktop. i tried going into safe mode, but no luck. Now I have an expensive boat anchor....HELP

 

Any suggestions?

 

Try restarting, maybe? That usually fixes problems like this.

 

I've restarted about 15 times.

I've tried to reset my computer. I now get this error message. "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing"

 

to fix that(blinking), turn off windows error reporting!!!!

 

How do you do that, if you cant get to it. This upgrade has been a DISASTER.

same happened to me after upgrading to wdw10.
I found this in another post and it fixed the problem on the first try:

There is a simple fix

Open task manager ... under file (top left) "Run new task" ...
type msconfig (yes it is hard to type as screen blinks, but it can be done) ...
In the new box that opens (it may be behind the task manager box) go to Service
Tab .... Scroll until you find 2 tasks that need to be stopped ... (1) Problem
Reports and Solution Control Panel Support .... (2) Windows Error Report
Service.... Disable these by unchecking .... Click Apply ... Click OK ... If
you are prompted to restart, then restart computer .....
