    After Installing Windows 11, my Apple Aiport time capsule cannot be accessed


    After Installing Windows 11, my Apple Aiport time capsule cannot be accessed. Tried to re-enable SMB 1.0 with no luck. Even guest access showing the wrong password. Tried to reboot Airport, changed the password, created a separate user also with no luck. Always throwing this error - https://prnt.sc/1vyo8lh Previously on Windows 10 everything was smooth.

    File Explorer Crashes when opening Apple Time Capsule

    Windows 10 File Explorer

    Apple Time Capsule v7.6.4

    Wired Ethernet using Cisco switch

    Dell Latitude e7440 laptop

    This worked fine until recently and now File Explorer crashes upon accessing Apple Time Capsule. Reproducible. No changes to the Apple device have been made over the time since back when this used to work. Possible changes to Windows 10 via update process.

    Is this a known defect? Are there any known workarounds?

    I apologize in advance for the lack of details, as I'm a lay person not a PC specialist, but this is CRUCIAL information for anyone using an Apple Time Capsule as a backup device for their windows data.

    In the latest windows update (1709) Microsoft removes SMB1, which is needed for time capsule compatibility, so if you had access to your Time Capsule until MS Windows Update 1709, you will need to reinstall SMB1 which is removed by the 1709 update.

    Again, I'm just a lay person paying it forward the help I received, and I don't know the first thing about how to find SMB1, how to add it, or anything, so I can't help any more than this. The credit goes to GeekSquad BestBuy Tech Support Agent Alexander
    C who made my day working very hard to crack this case! Microsoft just unleashed a nightmare unto it's customers who also use Apple Products, but I hope my post can help some people.

    Yeah, Windows Home Server does that.

    Im pretty sure MS had planned to make WHS compatible with Time Capsule too, but then Apple changed some essential part of how Time Capsule works...
