Windows 10: After June 10 Windows Update - File path to Programs missing

After the overnight update occurred, I could not open any of my Word 2010 or Excel 2010 files

A window popped up with an error message about the file path was missing

I could copy the file onto a flash drive and was able to read the file on another computer running under Windows 7

I tried restarting the computer but that did nothing

I tried reinstalling the programs but that did nothing

On next day, I was able to open the programs but I had to accept an app change to the hard drive in order for the program to open [if I chose No, the box would disappear and I was back to the desktop screen]. When you choose Yes, the file would then open up to a blank screen. I had to use the file tab to get to the recent files in order for the data to show up on the screen.

In February 2020, I got the new "Windows 10" computer to replace the "Windows 7" computer

My co-worker just had the Windows 10 system upgrade done and she did not have any problems with the update.


Is there a fix to this issue?


Did the update change the name of folder from Office10 to Office14?


Is there one or more of the update installs that can be uninstalled to correct this problem?

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

 

Windows program to secure erase files only

Great, I looked at using the utility built into Revo uninstaller as it offered this capability. Programs like I need are often lost in larger topics where fully clearing a set of instructions or files (usually multiple times) is a necessary step along the long path to finding the right solution.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
