    After latest Windows 11 update on reset get HDD GPT Message and need to choose 1, 2, or 3


    Twice after the latest Windows 11 update today's date Oct 21 2024 I get a screen that says "HDD GPT is valid and it is different than backup GPT." After much searching I found an answer on Hewlett Packard community website posted on 11-16-2021 by "TryToDoMybest".It is a BIOS issue. A protective mechanism.I am assuming that the latest Windows 11 update did something with regard to BIOS? I may try the resolution or I may just continue to bypass by picking "3."I wanted to report this to Microsoft but could not find where to do that.

    Latest Windows changes non Windows HDD's to GPT

    I guess the reason it is doing it is as the drives are over 2.2 TB, for which Windows can only see 2.2 max if an mbr formatted drive, so automatically chooses gpt.

    How do I change HDD from MBR to GPT so I can install Windows 11?

    Currently Running Windows 10 Pro. The HDD needs to be GPT to install Windows 11. Otherwise, PC is Windows 11 capable. I'm told I have to do a clean install of Win 10 Pro to change the HDD formatting from MBR to GPT. Then, once notified that the PC is Win 11 capable, I could update and get Windows 11 Pro. I have downloaded and created a Win 11 install disk but can't determine what version of Win 11 it is. I would prefer to just install Win 11 Pro and only have to rebuild the machine once. Suggestions?

    How do I get Windows 7 to install on a full 3 TB HDD?

    Thanks everyone, much appreciated. Giving this a shot now. I already try converting to GPT once already and it worked, but still only showed 2 TB, however, the steps listed your link Newteki have a few added steps I did not do. Also, I decided to go with Windows 8 Pro since Windows 7 was giving me so much trouble with this issue, yet it still gave me the same problems of only showing 2 TB then a separate 700ish GB drive.

    Here goes nothing, thanks all, will be reporting back soon, hozzah!
