Windows 10: After previous update my fingerprint scanner is no longer compatible. Can this be fixed or...

Hi! This might be a dumb question, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. So I recently did some updates on my laptop which is equipped with a fingerprint scanner. It is the same scanner that was already in the computer when I purchased it from Dell. I recently did this update as listed in my update history: 2025-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems KB5058499. Now with Windows Hello it just says in the settings that there is no compatible fingerprint scanner to be used with Windows Hello Fingerprint. So is my laptop just installed wit

To resolve this issue try the following steps:

• 
  Have you updated the driver for the Finger Print scanner? If not, check on the manufacturer’s website (HP).
  
• 
  Check if installing the latest driver of the fingerprint scanner allows you to login using a Microsoft Account?
  

This issue might occur due to driver incompatibility since upgrading to Windows 10.



If you have the raw executable file of the corresponding driver for the validity sensor, I would suggest you to install the downloaded driver file in compatible mode with Windows 7 or 8. Refer to the following steps to do so.

• 
  Right click on the driver, and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Go to the Compatibility tab.
  
• 
  Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  
• 
  Select Windows 7 in the list of Operating systems.
  
• 
  Click OK.
  
• 
  Double-click the driver file to install the driver and follow the onscreen instructions.
  
• 
  Reboot your computer.

Fingerprint scanner not compatible with devise

How to fix microsoft keyboard with fingerprint saying we couldn't find fingerprint scanner compatible with your devise.

I do have a microsoft keyboard with fingerprint scanner, when I tried to connect it with my surface laptop 5, I was getting a message that, the system couldn't. find ths fingerprint scanner compatible with window hello fingerprint scanner, please, how can i get this fix?

From your description, your problem should be a compatibility issue,

What model is your Fingerprint scanner?



You can try to update the driver.

1. Press Win+S;
   
2. Type Device Manager.
   
3. Find your Fingerprint scanner,
   
4. Right click Properties>Driver, Choose Update driver. Or select other options.
