Windows 10: After recent updates Word 2016 opens in half windows

For the last few weeks Word 2016 opens in a small window on my 24" monitor. Even if I save a document in full window the program reopens in the smaller window.

This has happened since the last two Office 2016 updates. The program is "up to date."

Any clues??

Windows 10 Office 365 cannot open files from: recent file list


Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:

Jump Lists Not working for Word 2016 or Excel 2016


I have the same version.
If I don't have word pinned to my taskbar then I drop a word doc on the task bar it creates a shortcut to Word on my task bar with a pinned entry for that file - BUT when you click the file is says it doesn't exist then if you right click the file and click open it works just fine - so the problem gets even more strange





but if you right click text.docx and click open it works...





and the recent list never appears on the right click menu....

something somewhere is very confused - that includes me at the moment!

 

Windows Key Plus Arrow Stop Working After Open Word 2016

After starting my HP Probook 650 with Windows 10, I open Firefox and am able to shift the window to one half of the screen with Windows+Arrow keystroke. After opening Word 2016, the keystroke does not work for Word. I go back to Firefox and find it has
also stopped working for Firefox. I recently installed a driver update for hotkeys from HP: sp71790. The keystroke did work for all programs after the update, but suddenly stopped working today. Restarting the computer did not fix the problem.
