Windows 10: after reset my pc unable to open certain files yellow padlock

I like the fresh start every then and now. So I did a reset on my pc.But first of all, I saved all my important files form the documents folder from the SSD where the OS is to a different drive a good old HDD.And now I am unable to open those files which I copied to my HDD. Those files and folders have a yellow padlock icon.the error code:error 0x80071771I know it has to do something with encryption. I've tried a couple of things I found online but nothing solves the problem.I stumbled upon the place where it showed the name who has permission to those files, and those were my names but fr

I have a folder on an external hard drive in which all of the files have yellow padlocks on the icons, and can't be opened, copied, pasted, etc. I can't access them in any way, aside from seeing the list of files in the folder. They've worked in the past,
so I don't know what happened here. The rest of the external drive is fine and the files on it work normally.

(I'm using Windows 10. I originally had the files on an older computer running an older version of Windows; this computer is pretty new, and I haven't opened these files on it before. I'm the only person who uses this computer and have or should have complete
administrator privileges; if I don't, that's a problem too.)

How can I fix this and access the files?

hi,

I am facing a problem of yellow padlock on upper right corner of file icon in explorer. (meaning ~ it is locked in a way that i cant open, share online or even transfer to other driver or folder)

I have already tried...

1. To Decrypt (by entering in file properties>general tab>Advanced option>unchecking encrypt contents box

2. To change Ownership (by entering in file properties>security tab gaining full access)

3. Tried copying it to other folder/drive or even sharing online, (but no success)

4. tried a utility tool (ResetPermission to regain authority on locked files & folders), but again no success

5. cant figure out any thing else.



Can you please help me with this.

I've scanned the files with Windows Defender and I don't have any security software running.
