Windows 10: After restart of computer I have no sound, no output or input devices; help!

The audio on my laptop was scratchy so I did a restart. Following restart I continued with a video lesson I was watching and there was no sound, I was not muted either in the program or on my computer. I did a troubleshoot and could not hear any of the tones it played. I checked Audio Service, there is a red indicator and hovering over message "The Audio Service is not running" appears, right click revealed no input or output devices but after several minutes they popped in. Second troubleshooting message is "Audio services not responding" and "Not fixed" but the red indicator is gone and "Speakers: 64%" on hover. Spatial Sound Windows Sonic for Headphones is grayed out.

Unfortunately, that did not work. There is something listed under the sound now in the device manager and that says it is functioning, but i still have no sound and it states there are no input and output devices.

After the last update of Windows 10, no audio devices are listed

Searching in the device manager: all audio devices say it works fine

The sound setting says: no output or input devices were found.

Hello!

Today, I was playing SCP: Secret Laboratory. After I finished, I went and made tea. When I came back much later to play some more, I found that the in-game voice chat was not working for me; my microphone was not transmitting in-game.
Looking into my Steam settings, I found that all my input devices were actually my output devices, and all my output devices were actually input devices. I initially thought this was an issue with Steam, so I restarted Steam and my PC.
However, when the problem did not resolve, I looked to my sound settings and found that even in there, my playback devices detected inputs as outputs and recording devices detected outputs as inputs.

How am I able to fix this problem?
