  1. After Restarting, I Now Have to Dig to Find my Files...

I restarted my desktop computer because it was being a bit slow, and while it was restarting I did some chores so I didn't see if there was any notifications or anything. Seemed normal enough when I got back.

I tried logging in, and it took much longer than usual. Now my background is back to the default blue Windows background, and my files are no longer under Quick Access (Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc.), and there's no memory of my activities on Chrome (bookmarks/favorites/auto-fill are blank, I'm not logged into anything). Full-version apps I had installed before are now on "trial versions," and my tablet driver needs to be installed again. It's almost as though I had purchased a new PC.

I looked around and found that I have to dig into "This PC > Windows(CAfter Restarting, I Now Have to Dig to Find my Files... :) > Users > kimhaki > Desktop" to get to my files.

So far I've tried restarting and shutting down but to no avail.

I want to go back to pre-restart state... What are the means of doing this, or what search terms should I look into? Also, what just happened and how do I prevent this from happening again? After Restarting, I Now Have to Dig to Find my Files... :( Help would be much-appreciated!

    EMUI

Here's the steps to update EMUI 4.1.1 to 5.0 :
    • Download the EMUI 5.0(desired version) .zip file, and unzip it.
    • Place the .hwt file in the HWThemes folder from your phone.
    • Using the Themes app, apply the new theme.
    • Restart the phone, in order to see all the new changes.
    And you’re done!

    Inexplicable restarts

Thanks for your patient help and analysis, zbook. I'll step through some of your suggestions over the next few days - there's a lot to do and some look a bit hairy! That is, for a PC that is working sweetly right now...

Meanwhile, as requested in the BSOD thread (sorry, I misunderstood and posted there by mistake), I've attached both ZIP files.

One step I did try right away was to answer your question about whether my BIOS is up-to-date. I had no success at the AMI site but did get some info from this commercial site:

    File History restart

    Hi Jim,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forums.

To change the backup drive for File History, the current process should be stopped. I suggest you to try the steps listed below to stop file history on an older drive and restart it on a new drive:

    Change File History backup drive:

    • Open Settings and navigate to Update & Security > Backup.
    • Click on More Options, scroll down to locate
Backup to a different drive section, and choose Stop Using Drive.
    • Plug in the new storage drive, navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Backup,
      and choose Add a Drive.
    • Restart File History and configure it by referring to the article

      .

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,
