Windows 10: After running 'disk cleanup' as administrator app take minutes to load

I was preparing to update to windows 11 from windows 10 and decided to clean unecessary data from my computer beforehand.I did not have a viable method of backing up all of my data so instead of a clean install I wanted to upgrade from my previous os win 10.After running the application all of my applications, such as steam, chrome, visual studio code, etc ... that have previously opened in mere moments now take around 2-5minutes to open.There was no other program that I ran before or after Disk Cleanup to delete / cleannup the system.The goal was to make the system more responsive, but it has

Hi joysoder, to properly and safely delete any files not required by your system, run Disk Cleanup twice as explained below. Each time select everything in the list and delete them. Disk Cleanup will not suggest deleting anything that is not safe to delete

Open File Explorer

Click on your hard drive

On the Manage Tab, click Cleanup

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

Start Disk Cleanup again

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

This time in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'

Let Disk Cleanup run another scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

 

No disk cleanup?

Are you the administrator on the computer? My best guess is that someone blocked it or something went wonky. You can still use disc cleanup by typing "cleanmgr" in run.
