Windows 10: After the recent update, my folder view settings keep resetting

I always have my folder view set to a specific preference, in terms of order, icon/list view/size, with absolutely no grouping honestly I just find that grouping thing annoying. However, ever since a recent update, every single folder has reset to plain list view, ordered by date and grouped by date. If I go through the trouble to reset the settings, chances are high that the next time I enter that folder the settings will have reverted again. This has happened many times now. It is annoying enough that I can't just set a universal preference so that I don't have to reset every single fo

Setting folder view

Hi. I have folders on my E drive which I like to see in List view. Some of those folders contain sub-folders which I also like to see in List view. When it comes to the actual files, I'd like them shown as Large Icons.

Is such a setup possible? Thank you. (version 1903)

I think I've solved it. Set top-level folder to Large Icons then go to View/Options/Change... and click Apply to Folders. Then just change the top-level folder back to Details by right-clicking an empty space.

Taking this a step further, is it possible to have different file views in different folders i.e. all the files in Folder A are shown one way while the files in Folder B are shown another?

One of the most annoying features in Vista (except UAC) is it's forgetfulness. It constantly forgets all folder views and resets them. Hopefully this little registry fix will solve this issue for everyone experiencing it.

How to Change the Group by View of a Folder in Windows 10 tutorial

The delay to reply was unrelated to this topic. I was preparing to add a disc drive. The preferred view is working now, and here is the step by step list of what I did, and it includes an additional step at the end. I also rebooted after each step.

1. Reset all views to default.
2. Rebooted.
3. Changed the "My Pc" view to Details and set the "Group By" to [None]. But left everything else at default.
4. Rebooted.
5. "My Pc" view retained the selected setting, alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.
6. Switched to Drive C:\, set it to "Details" and changed the column order to "Name, Size Type and Date". Grouping is available but not applied by the default settings.
7. Rebooted.
8. "My Pc" lost the settings, reverted to "Tile" and "Group by" was active again.
9. Reconfigured to "Details" and set the "Group By" to [None].
10. Rebooted.
11. "My Pc" view retained the selected settings. Alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.
