Windows 10: After transferring from SD card reader to PC zip files say empty when opened. I'm using...

I've been transferring mp3 and flac audio files in zip file format from SD cards using a SD card reader, from the reader via USB to a hp PC that uses windows 10 . I'm using the Windows file explorer to create the folders for the zip file on the PC. But when I try to open the zips later they say empty . They still show the size of content if I look in properties for the zip. The transfers that aren't zipped seem fine as far as I can tell so far.

• Connect the micro SD card reader to your computer.
• Plug the micro SD card into the card reader.
• Open the folder that contains files you want to transfer to the SD card.
• Select the files, press and hold "Ctrl" and then, click the files that you want to transfer. Or press "Ctrl + A" to select all the files in the folder.
• Press "Ctrl + C" to copy the files.
• Choose a drive on your SD card and open the folder where you want to store the files.
• Press "Ctrl + V" to paste the files.
• Wait until all files are transferred then, remove the micro SD card from the card reader.

Let me inform you that, to copy files from micro SD card to Windows PC you need a card reader.

Kindly follow the steps below and check if this helps.

Step 1:

Connect the micro SD card reader to your computer. You can plug some readers directly into a free USB port on your PC, while for others you need to use a USB cable to make the connection.

Step 2:

Plug the micro SD card into the card reader. Windows 10 detects the device and assigns a drive to it.

Step 3:

Select the drive assigned by Windows to your micro SD card in the left pane to view the contents of the card in the right pane.

Step 4:

Open the folder that contains files you want to transfer to the PC.

Step 5:

Select the files, press and hold "Ctrl," and then click several files to select multiple items, or press "Ctrl-A" to select all files in the folder.

Step 6:

Press "Ctrl-C" to copy the files to the clipboard.

Step 7:

Navigate to a drive on your hard disk and open the folder where you want to store the files.

SD card/SD card reader no longer working

Hi. New to this so not sure of category.
I have a Lenovo G70. Windows 10, 64bit
My SD card reader has stopped working.
In Device Manager, the SD card is not listed.
I can't format the card as it is not listed.
I cannot locate the card at all as it is not listed anywhere.
I've tried chkdsk and get 'Cannot open volume for direct access'
I don't even have the icon displaying when micro SD card is inserted.
It did work previously but I had errors. Scanning and fixing did not help.
I place the SD card in my Android phone and it works fine.
Please help!
