Windows 10: After trying to update system reserve partition need to know what to do

I confused about the steps to follow to update system reserve partition which was an error I got after trying to install Windows 10 update . I think it was Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2 because I'm getting prompted to update that again.


I tried to follow the steps on your link here: “We couldn’t update system reserved partition” error installing Windows 10microsoft.com and I think I did so successfully until I got to the section on Restore Permissions and don't totally understand the instructions.



Elsewhere on your website to solve this problem, it doesn't have the Restore Permissions section and I'm wondering if it's still necessary to do. Also, after I did the entering of the "icacls" part, as you can see in the screenshot I got "no such File or directory: so what do I do? How do I follow the rest of the instructions?

"Windows 10 couldn't be installed - we could update the system reserved partition"

I think you mean "could not update", not "could".

Suggestions:

• Disconnect any other hard drives.
• Run chkdsk /f on the System Reserved partition. You'll have to do this from the CMD prompt in Repair Mode.
• Initially there were reports of some System Reserved partitions being too small for the upgrade. Search for details if the first two suggestions fail.

1. What is the make and model of the PC?
   
2. How much free space do you have on your PC?
   

The System Reserve Partition (SRP) is a small partition on your hard drive that stores boot information for Windows. Some third-party anti-virus and security apps write to the SRP, and can fill it up.



Depending on the type of the disk that you are using, I would suggest you to refer the section
Windows 7 or 8/8.1 with GPT partition or Windows 7 with MBR partition from the article

After following the above steps you should be able to upgrade your PC to Windows 10.
