Windows 10: After update my pc muted

I was investigating audio dropouts problem i recently had. They suggested:

Update bios, motherboard chipset drivers, utilities etc

Observe with app called latencyMon.

Disable hyper threading on the bios

Adjust windows energy saving mode to best performance

Disable onboard audio card and disable windows sounds

Disable many windows unnecessary process running at the background

Sample bit rate could cause dropouts, adjust it to higher values like 256 to 512 or to 1024


After let go the latencyMon app for an hour I've find out actually Nvidia card and it's drivers was number one suspect, secondly network related issues.

Updated the latest bios, disable hyper threading, still dropouts

Couldn't update the Intel chipset drivers because i had newer version

Updated LAN drivers, still dropouts

Installed utility called AI Suite 3 for the "issue that resulted in the Windows power plan being forced to [balanced]"

Applied all modification for free windows, still dropouts

I realized i remove the NVidia Card but drivers was still in there. I uninstalled and problem solved. I get back to work


Then Windows update hit me.

At first; that utility called "AI Suite 3", the gui always hanging on the right bottom corner of my desktop looked weird. I don't know what went wrong. Then every time i turn on my computer after few minutes i will have warning

message, then after few minutes all sound will go. I can see my sound interface has power and i can get sound from it because it has connected to my external tone generator, so if i hit my device it will send audio to my interface and i can hear.

Next day i got back to my sound i thought its ok now, but no... After some time sound will cut, like now

By the way, while i was searching for the dropouts I've found one professional person who is working way larger scale then me. And it was very dramatic things he was saying. I am pasting from his findings.


"OT a bit, I suppose, but I've noticed that real-time performance has gotten worse over the last 3-4 years of hardware and software changes. I run a large orchestral template (around 700 tracks) with a bunch of VE Pro slaves and five years ago it ran just fine at about 7 ms total latency (3.5 ms sound card buffer + 3.5 ms VE Pro buffer). The same template now needs to run at about 17 - 20 ms to avoid dropouts and crackles."

Windows Explorer is muting microphone

Volume Mixer not showing muted app

The application was muted on Windows 10 with November update. Now I am using Anniversary update, on build 14393.10

The initial step did not help make Banished show up in the Volume Mixer, nor did the article.
