Windows 10: After update my screen (Win 10 HP Touchsmart 300) is slightly stretched laterally?

Stretched Screen Windows 10 Hp Touchsmart 310

I have been unable to fix my distorted and enlarged display on my HP touchsmart 310 PC by following any advice given.

I do NOT have any slider to adjust my resolution as was suggested. My video driver is supposedly up to date.

This change in resolution suddenly happened 4 days ago. First, my screen went all black. When it came back on, my windows were only small square with black borders around it that my cursor could not go beyond. Too small to work with. I've been able to stretch
the window out to fill the monitor, but it is still the wrong resolution. My desktop icons are giant. My videos and photos are widened and making slim people in them appear short and stumpy.

Any concrete solution available?

Hi, I have a HP TouchSmart 300 PC which had Windows 7 Pre installed when bought new. I have now installed Windows 10 on it and have lost some short cuts, one being the little house button on the bottom right hand corner which open's up photo's, music. and
Video, has Window's 10 added some thing else to replace this. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
