Windows 10: After updates today 27.5.2021 taskbar notification area is missing

Hello,After taking updates today 27.5.2021 the taskbar notification area is missing.I have tried re-enabling the area, restarting windows explorer and even rebooting my machine but makes no difference.Apps area is ok just the "notification area", no clock, anti virus, messages etc. etc./Ian

Windows 10: Icons missing in Taskbar notification area and in Settings -> Personalize -> Taskbar -> Notification Area - Select which icons appear on the taskbar

To All,

Suddenly, (but not unexpectedly for Windows 10's instability), some of my icons in the Taskbar notification area - AND - in "Settings -> Personalize -> Taskbar -> Notification Area - Select which icons appear on the taskbar" are now missing. In the settings,
the missing Taskbar notification area icons are turned on but all I see is a blank blue box with no icon within it or there are two entries for the same icon.

From my research, this problem has been around since 2015 so I tried a few of the fixes previously posted on this forum, but none have worked. These include:

1. Rebuild the icon cache
2. Run SFC (System File Checker) scan "sfc /scannow"
3. Run DISM TOOL "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth"

Note that restarts have been done after each of these. Are there other ways to fix this problem?

Here is a screen shot snippet of "Settings -> Personalize -> Taskbar -> Notification Area - Select which icons appear on the taskbar" that shows the missing icons and duplicate entries for those icons that are missing on the Taskbar.

To resolve your concern regarding notification area, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Right click Taskbar.
• Select Properties.
• Untick Show taskbar on all displays; then, Apply.
• Drag the remaining primary monitor taskbar to the screen you want.
• Tick Show taskbar on all displays.

Sound Icon missing in notification area in windows 10

Thank you for keeping us posted.

Please follow the below steps to turn on the notification for volume icon in the taskbar.

• Right click on the Start menu and select Control Panel and type the word 'taskbar' in the search box from the upper-right side. Once the search results are loaded, click on the link that says
  Customize the taskbar.
• Then select Customize under Notification Area.
• Click on Turn system icons on or off and toggle the option for Volume to
  on

The Volume Mixer icon will now show up in the notification area of your taskbar.
