Windows 10: After updating to build Version 2004, Microsoft Bopomofo input method can no longer use...

I just update to 2004 today. However it seems that my preferred input method Microsoft Bopomofo no longer support custom key assignment?

Windows 10 Chinese bopomofo input stuck in English.

Hi,

My Chinese bopomofo input is stuck in English. I can't switch to Chinese input by clicking on the input icon or pressing "shift" button, and nothing happens when I click on the language switch icon on the virtual keyboard either. It only happens for the
bopomofo input method but not the rest of the methods under traditional Chinese. However, I do need the bopomofo input to work.

I have tried removing and reinstalling both the input method, and the entire language, and tried setting Chinese as display language, and tried windows updates but nothing helps. I have also tried using troubleshoot but it stated no issues found for keyboard.

Any further help would be appreciated.

 

Microsoft bopomopo input method works in Office 365, but not other apps on Windows 10

Problem solved. The keyboard layout of Microsoft bopomofo input method needs to be set to "Standard", it was set to "Taiwan PinYin" by default. Probably doesn't work right with English version of Windows.

I understand how difficult it can be when the feature does not work the way it is supposed to and thanks for the information that you have provided on the post. To understand the issue better, we need few information.

• What is the Windows version and build installed on the PC?
  
• What is the KB article number that was installed two days ago?
  

However, you can go ahead and try these steps and let us know the status.



Method 1: Windows settings.

1. Pres Windows + I from the keyboard and go to settings.
   
2. Click on Time & language. Click
   language from the left pane.
   
3. Click on Chinese and click on Remove

After removing the language pack, refer the article to
Add and switch input and display language preferences in Windows
10. Check if the issue still persist, if yes then perform Method 2.



Method 2: Roll back to old restore point.

As this issue occurred after a Windows Update. We would suggest you to roll back to an old restore point and check if you are able to use the Bopomofo. Please refer the
Recovery options in Windows 10 article to go back to previous restore point



Please reply us with the resolution, so that we can approach the issue with more clarity.
