Windows 10: After updating to Widows 11 I no longer have any documents in This PC. Documents are only...

I updated to windows 11 and all the folders in 'this PC' have gone. Nothing is saved to my laptop hard drive only on onedrive. Where have all my files gone. I can only work online now as i can not access anything else, as there is nothing on my Laptop hard drive. I want files to save to this laptop and only back up one cloud. help please.

Documents/Pictures folders under 'This PC' refer to onedrive - not the local folders

Since the only folder that has incorrect file path is the Documents folder under This PC, we would suggest you do the same steps provided above. However, do it in your Documents folder under This PC. To do so, kindly follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer
• Click This PC
• Right-click on Documents
• Click Properties
• Click Location
• Click Restore Default
• Click Apply
• Click OK

My Documents Files - Deleted?

I have a PC where I have moved My Docs away from my C: to my E: so i can perhaps suggest a few things to check.

1. The documents and settings folder will still be present on your C: (although unused)
2. My Documents on my E: is shown as E:\Data (do you have a similar directory)
3. Is your missing data in this \Data folder if it exists?
4. If you click the My Documents shortcut does it take you to the default C:\doc and settings\blah blah, or does it take you to the \Data folder?

Ive had a similar issue with an application resetting the My Docs path back to its orig location and in essence orphaning the My Docs on my E:

 

Windows boots, My Documents auto opens. WTF?

That was going to be my first suggestion. *Toast :toast:
