Windows 10: After updating to Windows 10 Creators, screen won't wake

Updated to the new windows 10 creators OS and now whenever my laptop goes into sleep mode, the normal functions that used to wake it up out of sleep mode (tapping space bar or mouse pad) no longer work. The screen doesn't turn on but the power light indicates that the computer itself is still turned on. I have to do a hard shut down by holding the power button and then turn it back on. This is a new Lenovo laptop (2 months old) and has had no issues up to this point.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Some laptop models may boot to a black screen in Creators Update after closing and opening the lid

After installing the Windows 10 Creators Update, the following Dell models may wake to a black screen after closing and opening the lid:



Alienware 17 R4

Precision M7710

Precision M6800



It requires a hard reboot to restore the display. This problem then reoccurs the next time the lid is closed and re-opened.

I need help fixing 2 problems that occurred after the the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

1) My computer makes me LOG IN TWICE (i.e. enter my password twice) every time I turn it on or wake it up from sleeping.

2) My scanner won't work. The computer says it is not connected to the scanner. I have an all in one printer-scanner-etc. It still prints, but it won't scan.

 

Try this at a command prompt:
powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

This will list any devices which are enabled to wake your PC.

If none, then there's a basic problem.
Try each device listed (if any).

You can explore more options for powercfg in the usual way:
powercfg /?
