Windows 10: After Upgrade from W7, program will not run or reinstall correctly

I have a small utility program: MP3Gain. It normalizes mp3 volume.

This program was installed on a Windows 7 laptop that I just upgraded to Windows 10.
Check starting all the installed programs goes well except for 2, this being one.

When the program is started from the Start Menu it launches the Microsoft Office Small Business 2003 installer. This process ends with the message that the install media can't be found (it's on CD). Canceling starts a loop. Going into Task Manager finds MP3Gain running. End Task stops the installer loop.

Uninstalling the program, deleting all files and folders, scanning and cleaning the registry of all instances of MP3Gain, restarting, and reinstalling the program results in the same behavior.

I am running a DISM cleanup followed by a SFC now.

Any ideas?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Running W10, want to install W7 on separate partition

I'm currently running W10, having taken advantage of the upgrade, but I'm having a few problems with some programs that I've decided was simply better on Windows 7.

I still have my W7 installation media, and so I wanted to put it on a separate partition. I ran the installer, but it failed, and according to

this article it's because I need to install the older OS before the newer ones.

So I have a few questions on how to proceed:

• Do I use my W7 installation media and put it over W10?
  • I imagine doing this will require me to do two more installs, one to put Windows 7 on the intended partition, and another to reinstall Windows 10.
• 
  Will I need a new product key if I try to reinstall my copy of W7?
  
• 
  If I do reinstall W7, will I still be able to upgrade back to W10
  

I do still have the W10 stuff on the USB, so I'm not sure if that will make a difference or not.

Sorry if this is confusing, but I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone can help.

Our objective is to format the entire W7 Home Premium, currently installed on that computer, and reinstall a new version, may it be W7 or as you suggest W10, that will not include
my personal information. As in "reset to factory specs" as it was when I first bought it three years ago. At that time, it did not come with a install/reinstall DVD.
