Windows 10: After upgrade monitor no longer will turn off fully after inactivity

I recently upgraded my mobo & cpu. I didn't reinstall windows I just installed the mobo drivers. I have an nvidia video card that I use for my monitor. The issue is that when my PC sits for awhile I want the monitor to turn off. The monitor will turn off for a split second, however the power light never goes off. It then will come back on fully and if I wait again for the inactivity time it will do the same thing. I've triple checked my settings and they all look right, I even reset them and updated them to make sure there wasn't some hidden power profile thing that was changed.

Other things to consider.

I have a Oculus rift and I have a second HDMI plugged into my monitor for my laptop. However, the issue still occurs even when I disconnect both of them.

Monitor turns off after 2 minutes of inactivity


I recently updated from Window 8.1 to Windows 10. The upgrade went fairly well except for my laptop monitor turning off after 1 or 2 minutes of inactivity. I have changed all power settings to appropriate times. At times, normally after a fresh restart, my screen saver kicks in correctly. However, after a few times of working correctly, my monitor begins to turn off again.

 

Multiple-monitor mode: turning off the inactive monitors

I'm using dual monitors on a windows 10. I would like to turn off the inactive one, while retaining the dual-monitor mode of the OS, so that when I turn it back on, it has the proper setup.

Moreover, can this be automatized? So that when I switch tab or move the cursor out of the actual monitor, the OS will automatically turn on and off the appropriate monitors?

I'm not interested in improving performance, so it's not a problem if the OS still renders the inactive monitors behind the scene.

 

Monitor turns off after 2 minutes of inactivity


At first I just thought my display turns off. It turns out that my monitor turns off because the system goes to sleep. For some reason, the system goes into sleep mode before the screen saver setting activates. After 2 or 3 minutes of inactivity, my laptop simply goes into sleep mode.
