Windows 10: After upgrade to Windows 11 - No icons in my taskbar and can't access Settings

Hello,After upgrading to Windows 11, my taskbar shows completely blank except for a few tray icons, and I'm unable to open the Settings panel.Right clicking on the task bar does nothing.Trying to press the Windows key also usually does nothing:- Windows key = nothing- Windows key + I = nothing- Windows key + R = run window appears- Windows key + Shift + S = nothingUsing CTRL+ALT+DEL I can bring up the Task Manager which is how I've opened this web browserUsing task manager I can restart and kill the explorer.exe process, but doing either results in the same blank task bar and no settings.I'v

I appreciate your interest in Windows 11. I understand that Taskbar icons are not working after upgrading to Windows 11. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

1. What happens when you click on an icon on the Taskbar?
   
2. Do you receive any error message/code?
   
3. Does this issue occur with all the icons?
   

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try re-registering the taskbar and see if that works. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin)
   
2. Now type in the following command and hit Enter: Get-AppXPackage -User ([System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent().Name) *ShellExperienceHost* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
   
3. Restart the PC once the command is complete.
   

If the issue persists, you can try creating a new user account and then see if you are able to access the icons on the Taskbar.

System Icons on taskbar

Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.
