That all makes a good argument for an DIY build with an upgrade compliant main board /BIOS and phat PSU .

OTOH you can pick up HP factory refurb current model yr. HP PC at much less than a good custom and plausibly upgrade them within thier mainboard BIOS tatoo limitations with a plausible d/GPU and PSU upgrade and an SSD boot drive but you have to know the variables or find them on the web later or be prepared to change out the mainboard and you may still come out ahead with a windows 10 licence and nice case and less $$ and a plausibly decent assy line build .

lots of plausible choices these days like $349.00 Factory refurbished 2016 Core i5 HP desktops with 8GB ram and one or 2 TB HDD that are usually seasonal inventory adjustments or end of model year pulls or surplus in time for the fall selling season 2017 product or assy line test & repairs and not used if you know where to look and not the usual off lease 3 yr old Business PC MS authorised refurb box . for the same or more $$$ .

Having been willing to consider and having built a fair share of PC and game PC for personal use I SRSLY doubt I can build a Haswell or newer Core i5 1tb metal , 8 GB ram ,ODD, case, 300w PSU and decent case, card reader ,usb frt panel 2.0/3.0 headers , ports ,fan and windows 10 licence ( mouse and KB I wouldn't bother with ) for anthing near $349.00 ,that same PC and stock intel HD 4600 IGPU new or a build spec like that is maybe north of 6 benjamins and for 3 bills you can plausibly upgrade it with d/GPU and PSU and have way more d/GPU for 6 bills anyway.

I'm done with AMD they don't have anything outside of a low budget and nothing for plausible AMD FX vs Intel Core i5/Core i7 performance wise and their room heating FX 9xxxx flagship CPU's cant beat an Intel Core i3 at gaming and likely not single threaded I/O either anyway .

There are virtually no games or software optimized for AMD Core scheduling etc. and therein lies part of the AMD vs Intel performance deficit today they lost that long bet long ago .

Paid my AMD dues over the last 25 odd years and as recently as before this PC in my specs with an 2010 octa core K10 HP - AMD CPU and more often than not regrettably each time as opposed to what should have been a SB Core i3 or i5 back then or nearly so in 2011 before this much smoother ,drama free and faster 4 core Intel PC and the 3 Intel PC since then here.

OTOH in all fairness some of that on the last AMD PC might have been the known to be lousy and low spec OEM AM3 mainboards and BIOS HP had back then I never thought the CPU itself was bad and it's still plausible and plenty quick for a lot of PC users .

I'm finally having no AMD CPU/APU PC's in the crib here...YMMV and they do often work fine depending on the variables sometimes just not as good as Intel w/o SRS OC and all that risk and AMD at high cotton core i7 or Xenon levels never happened *really.

Changing out the MB may lose you your Win10 licence ...unless they believe the MB "died" certainly you will need to "Reactivate" by phone , just make sure to Claim it's only installed on 1 PC . Since FEB I have had to do it 6 times but only spoke to a real person once , but got reactivated each time ok , however that was all before the "Free" win10 upgrades finished.

  3. Right but getting one or two new mainboard in with the *(current and new ) Windows 10 activation troubleshooter is virtually a given .......
I just did that moving my 14905 (now 14915 ) Insider build to a clean dual boot install activation ~ Aug 24 to the new PC and a bare silicon SSD install .....just telling it what I thought it wanted to hear easy peasy ....SRSLY *really

Maybe I missed something, but after installation of the new graphic card, was the BIOS reset to default values?
Normally should do when installing a new graphic card, RAM or CPU.

    Cheers

After upgrading graphics card, Windows 10 no longer boots properly

Sorry for the late reply (I've been really busy with work). After looking at the majority of the replies, and seeing as the thirty day return window for Amazon from which I got the video card from is approaching, I have decided to just uninstall it, return it, and possibly get a different card that is more compatible with my system/BIOS. Thanks to everyone for their help!
