Windows 10: After waking from sleep HDD is on 100% and can not access it, must restart.

Like the title says, after I wake from sleep my D: disk, which is a 1TB HDD and relatively new, has the issue that I can not access it.

The drive is thereImage However I can not access it. In task manager, the drive is at 100% Active time and until I restart the system it stays so.

When I open for example disk management, it just says "Connecting to Virtual Disk Service" so I can not access it there neither.

No idea what can cause this any suggestions?

PS: I've formated my PC on the weekend in hope it would fix the issue.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.

Restart when waking laptop from sleep mode


When I wake my HP laptop from sleep mode, it says there is a problem and needs to restart. Then it restarts. It didn't do this until I upgraded to Windows 10. Anyone else have this problem or have suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you for any assistance.
