    After windows 10 update, first my keyboard would not work so I used the screen keyboard....


    I have a Dell 8920 desktop.

    When I turn on the computer, the Microsoft screen saver appears and with no input device is operational, I am stuck. I have tried both a different mouse and keyboard with no difference.

    All this happened after Microsoft updates. Is there a way to restore the operating system I am told is located on my SSD drive to my hard drive. Operating system disks are no longer furnished when you buy a computer.

    keyboard is not working on Windows 10.

    I have done all suggested steps and additionally was on the phone with Microsoft support for 2 (yes TWO) hours after a 4 (YES FOUR) hour call-back wait, and support could not fix the issues that were the result of an MS 10 update. The MS SUPPORT PERSON, AFTER
    2 HOURS, TRIED TO TRANSFER ME TO SOMEONE WITH MORE EXPERIENCE WITH ON-SCREEN KEYBOARDS UNDER MS 10, BUT WE WERE DISCONNECTED. I am now waiting another 4-5 hours for ANOTHER call-back. EVen 2 restores did not work.

    The On-Screen Keyboard is an application which provides a visual keyboard on your screen that can be used in place of a physical keyboard. To better assist you and provide you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, kindly answer the questions below:

    • Is your physical keyboard not functioning?
    • Have you tried turning off the On-Screen Keyboard?

    To turn off the On-Screen Keyboard, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Click on Start.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Select Ease of Access.
    • On the left panel, click on Keyboard.
    • Under On-Screen Keyboard, make sure it is set to Off.

    Have you tried updating
    your mouse and keyboard driver? If not, we suggest you to do so. There is a possibility that the driver is not compatible with the new Windows 10 update. However, one
    of the workarounds that we suggest for your mouse and keyboard to work is to update the driver. If the symptom persist, you can run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. To run the Troubleshooter, follow these steps:


    • On your search bar, type
      Troubleshooting.

    • Change the view to
      View all.

    • Choose
      Hardware and Devices
      and run the troubleshooter.
