Windows 10: After Windows 11 update files on my desktop are missing.

I ran the most recent Windows 11 update yesterday 15/10/2023. After the update, all files on my desktop are missing. It just has recycle bin. I have already searched the files on /user/desktop folder, but it is empty.

• Did you do a clean installation of Windows or upgrade to Windows 10?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if you can find your desktop files.

• Open This PC.
• Double click on C: drive.
• Open Users > double click on your user name.
• Open Desktop and check if you can find missing files.

Desktop files missing after Windows Update

I just updated my Windows 10 Pro x64 and rebooted my computer. After that, all the files, I had on my desktop (C:\Users\[username]\Desktop) went missing!

Note: I've done my googling, so:

• They are not in C:\Windows.old
• They are not simply set to hidden

The list of updates installed:

• Windows cumulative update KB3213986
• Malicious software removal tool KB890830
• Flash Player security update KB3214628
• Skype update KB3141468
• Office 2013 updates KB3141470, KB3118349, KB3141464, KB3141465, KB3141466, KB3141474

 

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.
