    After Windows update, BSOD, and now loss of BCD data


    I'm completely locked out of my main drive. I had a BSOD with the message "Thread stuck in driver" and decided to apply the latest windows update after getting back up and running. This resulted in a crash and now I get the error "The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors".

    I've tried everything I can find online regarding BCD commands but no success.. I get a message that I dont have privlidges to run the commands, and when I try bypassing them using google's advice it doesn't find the OS/disk.

    So I'm trying to just reinstall windows, but now im getting the message "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

    So I'm at a standstill of what to do. I dont have a spare drive to clone my data to and wipe this corrupt OS, so I'm hoping there is another fix.

    Hi Dave,

    Could you provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:

    • What is the make and model of your device?
    • Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?
    • Are you able to boot the device to desktop with this error message?

    This issue might have occurred due to corruption in the boot files or BOIS unable to detect your drive to boot.

    I suggest you to refer to the below thread, check if your issue matches with the same.

    If so, try the troubleshooting steps suggested by -.[Final]#[Boss].- and check if
    it helps.
