  2. Unable to sign in. System asking for password and microsoft account

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience caused. I will be glad to assist you with this.

To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

    1. Did you recently upgraded to Windows 10?

    2. If so, which was the previous operating system installed?

    3. Did you use a Microsoft Account in the previous operating system?

    4. How exactly did you install Windows 10?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 from a previous operating system, I would suggest you to try using the old account details and password and check if you are able to sign in. However, if that does not accept the password, I would suggest resetting the password
and check if it helps. Refer the link below for steps to reset Microsoft Password.

    Why can't you sign in?

    Let us know the result.

  3. Unable to login into system after Windows update, asking for password.

    Hi Tery,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We can imagine how difficult it could be when you are locked out of your own system. However, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

    1. Could you please let us know, how exactly you use to login to your system?
    2. Are there any other admin accounts?
    3. When you say user names had changed, don’t you see your user name at bottom right corner at the sign in screen?
    4. Have you tried logging in to your Microsoft accounts from your preferred web browser?

In meantime, we would suggest you to try logging into
Microsoft account using your preferred browser and check if you are able to login. If you are not able to log in, we would suggest you to refer

  4. After windows upgrade I am unable to log into my system it's asking for user account password

    Windows Startup password

Is it possible to remove a startup password without being able to log into the system? A friend's laptop just prompt her today for a password that she never enabled. Now, she does have a standard user account password, but that doesn't work for the startup password. She had the computer for about a year now and it has never asked for a startup password until today.

I tried to use Hiren Boot CD to run a diagnostic on the laptop, but it has a bsod. Windows 10 normal boot crashes as well
