Windows 10: again concerning a picture showing up among five on lock screen personalization page

This has been very perplexing and aggravating. I have a photo always showing up I think it is Al Jolson you know the great entertainer of the 20's-40's as one of my choices to have appear on the lock screen. I am very sure I did not download this picture as one of the pictures on the computer. No where does it appear in my photo album or on one drive if that should matter? ,moreover it is not a photo that appears on the C:/computer/web/screen path! It should not be part of any other profile that I set up in the past just in case somehow it may have migrated over to my present profile which is the only one created on my machine.


Now in the past I was able to have it disappear by simply clicking other photos along side of it and then it "fell off" if you will from the ones showing but recently I had to start the computer unconventionally as I believe it froze or something akin to this and when it restarted the welcome screen did display the photo again but quickly reverted to the way the computer starts according to the way I set it up. When going to the aforementioned personalization screen and clicking on lock screen the "ghost"photo showed up again along with the other 4 normal ones expected to be on.


Any idea what the heck is going on? I sure would appreciate it! Hopefully I described in succinctly.

I included General as my Sup topic although lock screen probably would have been the best choice but not included in the drop down menu only theme is and my question is not about themes but the pictures to show up while in the lock screen mode.

Lock Screen does not show any picture

I suggest you to perform the below steps and check if it helps:

• Type Settings in the Search box from the desktop and click on
  Settings.
• Click on Personalization.
• In Personalization windows, under Background,
  choose Picture.
• Under Choose your picture, click on Browse, select the picture you want to add and
  Choose picture.
• Now try to see if you are able to see Lock screen image/picture.

• What is the Windows 10 version?
  
• Did you made any recent changes on the PC?
  
• Does the lock screen picture changes all the time?
  

We would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and let us know if that helps.

1. Press Windows and I from the keyboard.
   
2. Click on Personalization, then click
   Lock screen from the left pane.
   
3. Set the Background as
   picture, select the picture you want to setup under Choose your picture.

Windows Spotlight - Lock Screen image will not show on Sign-In Screen

Thanks for such a quick response! I had tried the steps involved in Brink's tutorial already (both manually and running the .bat file, just in case), but I've given them one more try just to see if it worked - no luck, I'm afraid! While Spotlight itself works on the Lock screen, as soon as I press a key to move to the Sign-In screen to enter my PIN, it changes back to a plain flat-colour background - and that's even with "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen" enabled under Personalization.

If I set this to 'disabled', the Spotlight image shows on the Lock screen but not the Sign-In screen.
If I set it to enabled, both Lock and Sign-In show as a plain flat-colour background.

Thanks for this suggestion as well - I've tried this too (both enabling and disabling the registry key). It seems to get me one step closer. If I create and set 'DisableLogonBackgroundImage' to '1' under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System, then the outcome of "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen" under Personalization seems to have a different effect. Regardless of whether "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen", the Spotlight image shows on the Lock screen. However, it still doesn't show on the Sign-In page. That's still just a solid colour.

Do I want DisableLogonBackgroundImage to be 0 or 1? I guessed 1 as I figured that was a 'disable' key - kind of like a double negative

And with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SystemProtectedUserData\<your account's SID key>\AnyoneRead\LockScreen, there's the HideLogonBackgroundImage key - which I guess should be set to 0?

I feel like it's just got to be one darn registry key somewhere to fix this, but I've got no idea where to look!
