Windows 10: Ai high performance mode turned on and it made my cpu very hot and now that i turned it off...

when i launched fortnite saying Ai high gaming performance enabled then my laptop fans were louder than normal by alot and after i turned it off and restarted my pc the cpu was hotter than normal

High performance mode does not automatically turn off

I have an acer predator helios 300 running on windows 10 with game mode on. Whenever I open a game my power plan switches from balance to high performance, which is convenient for me. However, it doesn't automatically switch off when I stop playing a game, instead leaving my computer on high performance mode until I manually switch it back to balanced. As nice as it is to have it automatically increase performance when I play a game (which is quite often) it's extremely annoying to have to manually switch my power plan back every single time. Is there a way to set it up so that it automatically turns off when I'm not gaming? It seems really weird to have a setting that automatically turns it on but doesn't then automatically turn it off later.

My battery already isn't very good (whether that's the computer's fault or I did something wrong, idk) so being on high performance mode means that when I have 40% battery, I have 18 minutes left :/ so yeah not automatically turning it off is extremely frustrating.
