Windows 10: airplane/flight mode seems inoperative on my desktop

I've been using my 'Airplane mode' (or Flight mode) as a convenient way to temporarily halt all internet and email traffic on my desktop. I like doing this for extra security because I do a lot of work off-line, and I see no point in having the internet and emails connected during these lengthy periods. But for some unknown reason my airplane mode has simply stopped blocking traffic. It's as if it's capability has been disabled for some reason, even though it has been selected on. My Airplane mode is also notified as turned on in the settings page.


Is there a solution to this?

I understand the issue that you are currently facing, we will try the best we can to resolve your issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps to disable the Airplane mode.

Step 1: Open Settings, and select or tap on the
Network & Internet icon.

Step 2. Select or tap on Airplane mode on the left side to turn
on or off Airplane mode on the right side.

I also suggest you to run the Internet Connections troubleshooter and check

• Type Troubleshooting in the search box
  and Hit Enter.
• Click View all from the left pane and select Network and Internet and select the Internet connections \Network adapter troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

How to turn off Flight Mode on a desktop PC


Hi, I guess you've researched this apparent absurdity:

Ideas posted:
1. Go to your FN button and your Print Screen Press them both together and hold them Both Down together then go to your print screen and delete it then go to your airplane mode and turn it off it work for me and it should work for you airplane mode is off.
but desktop keyboards don't usually have Fn buttons

2. If you have a UPS attached to your machine with USB, that can cause Windows 10 to assume you are on a portable device and thus require Flight Mode.[table][tr][td][/td] [/tr] [/table]
Disconnect you the USB connection to your UPS (if any)3. Use Powerchute: Quite often in your scenario the Airplane Mode bug is triggered by having a UPS data cable connected to your computer. In that circumstance Airplane Mode can be removed by either unplugging the data cable or installing the UPS data management software (eg. -Powerchute for APC, etc. etc.)Comment by some this didn't work

4. Registry

Here I offer this as possibly useful info. If I turn Flight mode ON on my laptop, this is the change I see in the registry during the monitoring period:

may be of interest.

As to its relevance or existence in a desktop, I can't comment, but you could, cautiously, experiment.

 

Airplane Mode on a Desktop PC

You may turn off the Airplane mode.

Click on Start, then select Settings >
Network & Internet > Airplane mode and turn off airplane mode if it's on.
