Windows 10: AirPod Pros will connect for Playback but not recording on Windows 10

I am having an issue with my AirPods & the recording/microphone with my new Dell Precision 3570 laptop. I did not have this problem with my prior Dell Precision 3540 laptop though. I have disconnected & reconnected the AiPods multiple ties & restarted multiple times. I have no problem hearing sound from them, but I do not even get the option to connect them for input. When I look at Bluetooth & other devices in the settings. It shows under Audio my Airpods & they are connected voice, music.When I go under settings to Sound the Output is my Airpods, but the Input doesnt have

I just managed to get mine working on Windows 10. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but seeing how we haven't gotten answers from MS on this, here is what I did.

Like most of you, the AirPods (gen 2 in my case) are paired and connected fine. If I have external speakers on and talk into my AirPod mics, that part works. However, Video, Music, and Game audio was not. After reading a few things online including this thread, I realized the whole time I was trying to "Set Default" on the AirPods for playback... I was picking the wrong one. When I paired them, 2 devices showed up under the Playback tab... "AirPods Stereo" and "AirPods Hands-Free AG Audio". Seeing the latter on the Recording tab, I assumed that was the Microphones on the AirPods. But it's actually both Recording and Playback. It seems "AirPods Stereo" isn't doing anything other than showing up in the Playback list.

Solution for me: Change the "AirPods Hands-Free AG Audio" to Default.

Everything worked after that. So ignore that "AirPods Stereo" device and set the default on both the Playback and Recording tabs to "AirPods Hands-Free AG Audio".

I hope this helps at least 1 of you out. I'm attaching a screenshot pointing to the correct device.

THIS WORKED FOR ME! The audio quality however is terrible for me, is it the same for you? Compared to any other headset or speaker connected to my PC, the AirPods quality is abysmal. It works and I'm happy that something is coming out of em. Hope anyone who has them working can respond and thanks in advance.

 

How to connect both dualsence and airpods pro 2

To connect both a DualSense controller and AirPods Pro to a device at the same time, you can follow these steps:

Turn on Bluetooth on the device you want to connect the DualSense and AirPods Pro to.

Press and hold the PS button and Share button on the DualSense controller until the light bar starts flashing.

Go to your device's Bluetooth settings and search for available Bluetooth devices.

When the DualSense controller appears in the list of available devices, select it and wait for it to pair.

Once the DualSense controller is connected, put your AirPods Pro into pairing mode by pressing and holding the button on the back of the charging case until the light on the front of the case starts flashing.

On your device, search for available Bluetooth devices and select your AirPods Pro from the list of available devices.

Once your AirPods Pro are connected, you should be able to use both the DualSense controller and AirPods Pro simultaneously on your device.

Note that some devices may have limitations on how many Bluetooth devices can be connected at the same time, so it's possible that you may need to disconnect one device to connect the other. If you encounter any issues, you can try resetting the Bluetooth connections on your device and the devices you are trying to connect.
