  1. AirPods audio issue with microphone usage

Problem: Whenever I use an application [e.g. videogames] that allows microphone use, I try to use my AirPods as an input device [microphone]; however, once I do, it mutes all sound both in the application and on my PC until it's microphone isn't being used.I have two "devices" associated with my AirPods in the Windows Sound Settings menu: "Headphones AirPods Stereo," and "Headset AirPods Hands-Free AG Audio".Headphones is my output device. Headset is my input device.I cannot switch between the two, Headphones is only for output, Headset is only for input. If I am using Headset as an active

  2. AirPods Pro 2 Microphone Not Working on PC

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

It's possible that your AirPods Pro 2 are not being recognized as a headset because they are not properly set up to work as a microphone on your Windows 11 computer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check the AirPods Pro 2 settings: Make sure that your AirPods Pro 2 are set up to work as a microphone on your Windows 11 computer. To do this, go to Settings > System > Sound > Input > Choose your input device and select your AirPods Pro 2.

Check the microphone settings: Go to Settings > System > Sound > Input > Device properties > Additional device properties. In the Microphone Properties window, go to the Levels tab and make sure that the microphone volume is turned up.

Update audio drivers: Go to Device Manager and check if there are any updates for your audio drivers. Right-click on the audio driver and select Update driver. Alternatively, you can visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest audio drivers for your Windows 11 computer.

Reset your AirPods Pro 2: Try resetting your AirPods Pro 2 by putting them in their case, pressing and holding the button on the back until the light flashes amber, and then repairing them with your Windows 11 computer.

If none of these steps work, you may want to contact Apple support or your computer manufacturer for further assistance.

    Microphone issues

    Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

    • Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
    • Corrupted or outdated driver
    • Faulty device

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
    • Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
    Geethu B's on this
    link.

We're looking forward to your reply.

AIrpods Pro - can't use microphone

This is a strange problem; since working from home during Covid, I have been using Airpods Pro for taking calls on Teams and Zoom with no problem, both on a Surface Book 2 & my current Surface Pro 7. When connected to either of these devices, it showed
in the device list as "Connected voice, music", and I never had any issues using it as an ordinary stereo headset with mic. HOWEVER, I had to reset my Airpods due to a charging problem, and after re-pairing them to the Surface, it only connects for music,
and I can't get any apps to recognize the microphone in any way. I used to be able to swap sources for both audio and microphone back and forth in any app without a problem.

    What. is. going. on?
