Windows 10: Airpods fail to connect

I got some brand new airpods that I tested to work on my phone. I've been trying to get them to connect to my PC and it doesn't work no matter what. Every time I tried I got thrown the "we're not getting any response from your device" error. I reassure you that I've tried everything I can think of or find online before posting. This includes:

• I factory reset the airpods
• I made sure any other bluetooth device around the PC is turned off
• I tried connecting with Wi-Fi off
• I tried connecting while unplugging everything attached to the laptop
• I ran the bluetooth troubleshooter in control panel
• I updated Windows
• I uninstalled, re-installed, and updated my bluetooth drivers
• I ran a driver update scan and updated any other outdated drivers
• I ran a full scan in Windows defender

And the error persists. I am able to connect other bluetooth devices to my computer e.g. a game controller and my device shows up as a discoverable device on other devices when bluetooth is turned on.

My Windows build is Windows 10 Insider Preview 21318.1000.

Any help is really appreciated.

Connecting airpods

My airpods are saying their connected and I never had a problem before with them. The sound keeps playing through the speaker instead of the airpods but their clearly connected. I really absolutely hate this computer since it was listed as being a good
computer and its complete trash but it never didn't connect and work properly. Its a stupid hp windows 10 if that means anything but shouldn't. I just want to know why it isn't playing through my airpods but says connected.

I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

1. Press Windows Logo key + X, and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Expand, Human Interface Devices.
   
3. Look for AirPods Audio/Video Remote Control HID and
   AirPods Hands-Free Call Control HID, right click on each entry and select
   Properties.
   
4. Go to the Power Management Tab, clear the checkbox for
   Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
   
5. Also, repeat step 4 for Bluetooth Low Energy GATT compliant HID.
   
6. Click on OK.
