  2. How to mute the sound for System Alerts?

    Hello,

I am facing a problem in windows 8.1 and as well as windows 10 on LUMIA 535. I think this is the issue facing by all the lumia users.

My problem is "How to mute the sound for System Alerts?".

I have tried by unchecking the Play a sound for system alerts in
Settings under Ringtones+Sounds in windows 8.1 but the sounds for system alerts are not muted. The system alerts like displaying the Balance after ending the call, Sending the message, turn off the mobile data, or any other
    Balance enquiry by *121#,*125#,*123#,etc.,.

Is there any remedy to mute those sounds? or Is this a bug for windows phones? or Any solution for this problem?

Please let me know the working solution for this problem...

    Regards,

  5. Hi

My problem is that I did update to Windows 8.1 and I had sound issues that I couldn't fix.
I spent a day trying to get it to work correctly but no luck.

So I decided I'd just stick with Windows 8 until Windows 9 comes out.

Now they are trying to force me to update even if it won't work!

I'd be glad to if I knew that my sound wouldn't be distorted, but I found a lot of people having this issue and no answers.

I know it's a Creative Driver problem, but no one is fixing it.

I tried to update to the latest Creative drivers in Windows 8 and had the same problem, I had to go back to the default Windows 8 drivers to get it back to normal.

But Windows 8.1 installs the new drivers when you install it.

I guess I'll have to try installing Windows 8.1 and then backdate the drivers but I have no idea if that will work or not and it's a lot of work to go through the update and then have to undo it all, all over again.

Hi Mike and welcome to Nine Forums. Have you tried posting about your sound problem on our sister forum, Eight Forums? If not, maybe someone there might be able to help you

  8. Alert Windows 8.1 users.

    Hi Guys

When I was having this problem I looked everyplace.
    Including the Creative forum.

I found a lot of other people having sound issues after upgrading most if not all were running Creative sound cards, mostly the same one that I do, a Recon 3D PCIe.

After a whole day of uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, uninstalling my sound card in Device Manager and rebooting etc. I gave up and restored from my backup.

The problem was very weird, while most sounds were fine, anything with speech, especially computer generated speech, (I use this a lot for the videos I create) was badly distorted.

Even speech on the same file with music in the background, the music was fine and the speech was distorted.

Many people found the same thing in computer games, the speech was distorted, or to soft or too loud, while other sounds were normal.

I don't even have a concept of how this can happen.
I thought that once recorded into a .wav or .MP3 file a sound was a sound.

I don't have a clue why it would treat speech differently.

This happened even on videos that were posted on sites like YouTube.

Very weird, but I couldn't fix it.

As I said, I'm sure it's a driver issue, the same things happens in Windows 8 if I use the latest Creative drivers but so far no fix.

Anyway I hope that the beta for Windows 9 will start some time this summer, and I can give that a shot.

I beta tested both Windows 7 and 8 and I'm planning on doing 9 if I can.

And I may try to upgrade to 8.1 again, see if I can roll the driver back to the one I'm using now in 8, the one thing I didn't do when I upgraded last time.

I assumed the problem was because my driver didn't work with 8.1 and I needed a newer one, not an older one.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Mike
