    Alienware 17 r3 after a security update on win 10 is stopping it from charging


    my Alienware 17 r3 from 2016 got a security update from windows but I replaced the batteries and the same update appeared and stopped my laptop from charging what the heck is going on? i took it to a repair show and replaced the batteries and updated it as well the same thing again no charging can someone please explain this?

    Alienware Aurora-R3 & Windows 10

    My machine is an Alienware R3 and the installation of Windows 10 stopped on restart.

    I followed your instructions and Windows 10 was installed.

    I pull the power when the BIOS screen showed up. So it was OK to wait until the BIOS screen appeared. When I plug the powercord the installation continued.

    Afterwards a software restart has been done without problems, because of new updates.

    Win 10 has been running in a week without problems.

    Are the issues fixed with the Alienware R3 and the USB 3.0 Driver and windows 10. If not, could someone please send the info on how to fix it. Thank you,

    You Right (I have a Alienware R4 17 too). Microsoft has blocked intentionally the update 1803 for some Alienware laptops (incluided R4 17).
    The reason to do that its because they found a black screen issue whit the hybrid display graphics on this laptops.
    Dell and Microsoft are working on a solution to this problem. When the patch are ready the update its gonna be install.

    Affected Systems:

    Alienware 13 R3
    Alienware 15 R3
    Alienware 15 R4
    Alienware 17 R4
    Alienware 17 R5
    Microsoft is currently blocking these models from installing the update due to a known incompatibility that may cause these devices to display a black screen after resuming from battery saver mode. For this reason, we do not recommend attempting to work around the current block to install the April 2018 Update. Microsoft is currently working on a solution that will be provided in a future Windows Update (Week of May 22nd), after which these devices will be able to install the April 2018 Update.

    If you are receiving this message, you do not need to take any action at this time. There are no apps that need to be uninstalled. Windows Update will notify you when the April 2018 Update is ready for your device.
