Windows 10: Alienware Laptop seemingly reset while i was in the other room, now things aren’t working.

Hello,I turned on my laptop, logged in, windows 10 walked out of the room for 20 minutes, and when i came back my alienware laptop background was reset to default, my files in file explorer were missing, and a lot of desktop applications were missing. it says nvidia is not installed, and every couple of minutes, a white box that says you’ll need a new app to open this myalienware link pops up. it also says that for windows security when i attempt to open that. was on the phone with dell support but they said it could be a software issue and offered virtually no help. everything is backed up

Why is Microsoft downloading "Alienware" by Dell on my Lenovo laptop?

Although the show/hide updates would probably work, the Alienware control panel was already part way through the update when I paused it so it wouldn't stop the update anyway. So, I did the update and went to look at the history of the update. While it said the Alienware "driver" was updated, I went to the "driver" folder and it didn't show any update that had been done for "Alienware". I also looked into deleting the program again and it was no longer listed at all.

This is strange as it looks like it isn't on my computer since there is no driver or program listed but it is shown on the "Windows update" history. Why would it be listed if it isn't on the computer? This whole "Alienware" thing is very strange to say the least as I said earlier this is a Lenovo laptop not a "Dell" Alienware laptop so, why would Microsoft update this program in the first place?

Icons from apps aren´t displayed correctly

Thank you for posting your query at Microsoft community.

Do the apps work fine apart form the icons not displaying correctly? If so I would suggest you to run an SFC scan and check if it helps. If the issue persists you may run DISM command and check.

Follow this steps:

    Press Windows+X.
    
  • 
    Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
    
  • 
    Type the command SFC /SCANNOW and
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and hit
    Enter.
